Own Your Shine

A celebration of Black Women in History

In partnership with Millennia Ministries, NAACP of Snohomish County, Community Foundation

of Snohomish County and Snohomish County Black Heritage Committee. You are cordially

invited to, “Own Your Shine. A Celebration of Black Women in History”. This event is scheduled

for Friday, February 24, 2023. 6:00PM-9:00PM. 

This will be an evening affair with a focus on bringing women in our community together to learn about and

reflect on the many contributions made by black women, past, present, local, and global.

Our guest presenters will include Ms. Marilyn Morgan who will share excerpts from her book, “Trailblazing Black Women of Washington State”. We will then have a special presentation, “Dolls of Distinction”, which will highlight more great black women in history and finally, our keynote speaker, Ms. Ehmandah Ramsey, of California. She will bring all the above elements together by reminding us, as we remember, honor, and celebrate the many great accomplishments made by black women throughout history, let us not forget the present and/or our future. The buck does not stop with these mighty pioneers, but we too, even in 2023, have a duty to keep their legacy alive by answering the call for our own lives. Every woman has a place in this world and something magnificent to contribute to the betterment of mankind. Our voices must continue to be heard and our purposes fulfilled.

The overall objective is to leave encouraged, strengthened, and empowered to "own our shine"

and shine in such a way where others will see us and be blessed for generations to come.
